All about the Towers of The Caucasus.

This is a trip to explore and feel the watchtowers and fortified dwellings with its untouched surroundings.  Pretty much the whole trip will take place in  Svaneti region, located northwest of Georgia. Here you will hike through a beautiful lands while enjoying the breathtaking panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and deep gorges, pine forests and alpine meadows. The second part of fascinating trip continuous to the highest village of Europe Ushguli. The place is still inhabited and is located at 2200 m. above sea level. On the ride back to Mestia – the center of Svaneti region, you’ll have chance to visit historical monuments and museums preserving ancient artifacts from this region. Finally you’ll have opportunity to taste Georgian homemade wines with delicious cuisine characterized to mountainous regions and listen to the famous polyphonic songs!

  1. Day 1 Arrival

    Arrival in Tbilisi. Overnight at hotel

  2. Day 2 Kutaisi the Center of West Georgia

    Breakfast in hotel. Drive to Mtskheta, the UNESCO world heritage site. Visit 6th century Jvari Monastery and 11th century Svetitskhoveli cathedral. Trip continues to Gori, town being famous as a birth place of J. Stalin.  Visit Uplistsikhe rock-hewn complex – an ancient urban settlement dated from 1st millennium BC. Passing Rickoti tunnel, brief stop at “Shrosha” clay market, arrive in Kutaisi, the center of west Georgia. Dinner and overnight at guesthouse/hotel in Kutaisi.

  3. Day 3 Explore Svaneti Area

    Breakfast in guesthouse/hotel. 5hr journey to Svaneti region, along the fascinated gorges of Enguri river. Arrive in small and cozy Svanetian village Becho.  Dinner and overnight in guesthouse.

  4. Day 4 Route to Dolra Waterfalls

    Breakfast in guesthouse. Full day, 8-9hr trekking  to Dorla waterfalls, passing alpine meadows and pastures, beautiful pine forests, St. Georg’s chapel, crossing the wooden bridges over the rivers and eventually reaching Dorla waterfalls (or *Shdugra waterfalls as locals refer to)  and enjoy the breathtaking scenery harmonized in wildness of glaciers and high peaks of the mountains. Return back to Becho, transfer to Mestia – administrative center of Svaneti province, dinner and overnight in guesthouse/hotel in Mestia.

  5. Day 5 Mystery Lakes

    Breakfast in guesthouse/hotel.  Full day, 8-9 hr tough trek starting from Mestia and surroundings, towards Iron Cross located at 2200m. overlooking Mestia – administrative center of Svaneti, reaching Qoruldi lakes at 2700m. elevation, enjoy the panoramic view of the great Caucasus range and Svans dwellings.  Return back to Mestia. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse/hotel.

  6. Day 6 The Highest Village of Europe

    Breakfast in guesthouse/hotel. Drive from Mestia to Ushguli village, a community of four villages: Zhibiani, Chvibiani, Murkmeli and Chazhashi, at 2200m.  recognized as the UNESCO world heritage site and the highest inhabited village in Europe. Trek to the foot of Mt. Shkhara 5068m. highest peak in Georgia.  Walk to Ushguli, visit 12th century Lamaria complex, local dwellings, *optional “Sulguni” cheese tasting at one of the families. Dinner and overnight at guesthouse in Ushguli

  7. Day 7 Cultural Exploration of Mestia

    Breakfast in Ushguli. Drive to Mestia, represented as the treasury of history and art, with well-preserved oldest forms of living and methods of agriculture. Lavish decorations of churches with indoor and outdoor wall-paintings, remarkable for Georgian Christian architecture, emerging from 9th century. Dinner and overnight at guesthouse/hotel in Mestia

  8. Day 8 Transfer to Tbilisi

    Breakfast in guesthouse/hotel. Departure to Tbilisi. Transfer takes approximately 10 hr including lunch break.  Arrive late evening in Tbilisi. Dinner at traditional restaurant with folk performance. Overnight at hotel.

  9. Day 9 Tbilisi City Tour

    Breakfast in hotel. Tbilisi city tour. Explore old town and important historical, cultural and architectural monuments. *Optional visit to the National Museum. Evening, free time for leisure. Overnight in hotel.

  10. Day 10 Departure

    Transfer to airport.
